
Three of Auckland’s most vibrant performers have combined their talents for a one-off show called Hymchidivah (pronounced HIM-SHE-DIVA) - a combination of HYMN (song of praise), CHI (life force) and DIVA female lead singer). Ramon Te Wake, Taiaroa Royal and Lindah E are the trio with special guest band Allegro.
Friday 19 March 8pm at Galatos. Tickets are $30 and pre-sales receive a free CD. Door sales from 7.30pm.
Also, Saturday 20 March is going to be huge! Aroha Day takes place in Beresford Square from 3pm to 9pm. It’s a FREE event supported by the Karangahape Road Business Association. A fundraiser for the Auckland City Mission and the Mika Haka Foundation’s GLBT Youth Programmes, Aroha Day promises to be full of fun and entertainment. There’ll be musicians performing live, fabulous drag divas and dynamic dance crews. Mika and a host of other celebrities will be there, along with array of food and craft stalls.
At 9pm, the official Aroha dance party and festival’s grand finale Aroha After Dark kicks off in Galatos. Sponsored by Get it On!, Aroha After Dark will feature all your favourite DJs and performances from the Aroha All-stars, along with Mika, Miz Ima Starr, Tess Tickle, Polly Filla and the Go-Go-Boys.
