Are you in a relationship or single?
I’ve been in a relationship for about nine months now. It’s going really well – we’ve even met each other’s parents! Also, we were lucky enough to be able to spend two weeks in Beijing this year, which was a great experience to share.
Are you romantic?
I’m not particularly romantic, in a roses and love letters kind of way – it makes me kind of uncomfortable. I used to be a bit romantic though – drunken mushy txts at 3AM on a Saturday morning, things like that. I cringe at the thought now.
Would you consider yourself a prude?
I wouldn’t like to think so. I’ll try almost anything once and I have no aversions to nudity, sexuality, drinking, taking (some) drugs, or participating in mischief, heh heh. Although I guess I do get hung up on some things – like etiquette for example; I can get pissed off with people who have no manners or sense of occasion. People with a wimpy, limp handshake make a bad first impression on me too.
What's your idea of the perfect date?
Hmmmm. You know, I don’t think I’ve really been on a real ‘date’ as such. Do they still count as dates if you’ve already slept with someone or they’re already your BF? I have a naughty habit of shooting first and asking questions later – bad metaphor, sorry guys...
Have you ever slept with a girl?
No. Gold Star homo – high five! I didn’t really go through that stage when I was a teenager or anything when felt like I had to pretend and have a girlfriend and the whole sha-bang. I guess the opportunity doesn’t ever really come up because I’ve never gone after it. I don’t feel the need or the urge to, well, do it. It’s just not appealing. ... Yuck. Having said that, it’s probably something for the bucket list.
Which famous female would you go straight for?
What’s with all the questions about girls? It’s weird, but I think I’d quite like a turn with Queen Elizabeth II. When she was younger, of course! Not only was she a total minx, but she’d let me run around the palace in all her jewels! I could totally rock that lifestyle!
Can you tell us a bit about how you came out?
Coming out was a relatively simple thing for me. My mum (who is amazing, by the way), was very accepting – but not very surprised... And while my Grandma quietly thinks it’s still some kind of phase (bless!), she is coming to terms – having recently commented to my mother that ‘... there is a lot of it going around, isn’t there! It’s even on Emmerdale!’
I didn’t spend many of my teenage years feeling confused; when I came out it was as simple as taking mum aside while we were taking the dog for a walk and just saying it. It’s never been a problem, so I count myself very lucky.
What is something you find attractive in guys that others might find weird?
Well, no one would think that ticking each of the tall, dark, and handsome boxes is weird, (which, by the by, would certainly increase a guys chances), but I like a well formed, prominent nose on a guy. It could even be a bit crooked and quirky. I think a good snoz gives a face a lot of character
What is on your bedside table?
It’s a mess. Lots of hair and skin stuff, perfume, a pile of books (I’m reading ‘Rise and Fall of the Third Reich’ at the moment), a bunch of letters from the likes of Studylink and one from the Labour Party (asking me for money again, I assume). What else... an awesome little jade statue of a horse called Mà (from Beijing) and, of course, a long suffering, underused alarm clock.
