Congratulations on winning the Christchurch heat of Bro Online’s Next Top Model, Aaron! How did you find the competition?
It was a lot of fun, and well organised. It was great to see a good turnout from the Christchurch community, something that is slowly building in down here.
How did you find the photo shoot in Auckland and the Get it On! Big Gay Out?
The weekend was fantastic, so much so that I almost needed another weekend to get over it! I had a lot of fun at the photo shoot; I met some fantastic people. There was a warm friendly and happy atmosphere all weekend, and all the guys were there to have a great time.
Have you had more dates since being part of the competition?
Yes, a few. I dine out a lot as I work for a group of restaurant bars; it’s nice to be able to dine with a date instead of just friends now! I have had a lot more contact since doing the Bro Online competition, but I am still waiting for someone who I have chemistry with!
Are you single?
Yes. I am happy at the moment, but looking for something more. I would like to be in a relationship but I’m not too concerned about a time frame – when/if it happens, it happens.
Is there a difference between the kind of guy you’d have a one night stand with and a guy you’d like to go out with?
I don't really do one night stands anymore. I did go through a period of that after first coming out though. I am looking for a relationship now, so to me chemistry, conversation, and having things in common are more important than just sex. If you were to separate the two though, all you would need for a one night stand is basic physical attraction with the end goal of fulfilling a sexual need, whereas you would want to be able to at least hold a conversation with someone who you were going to date and have a few things in common. You just know.
Who is your celebrity crush?
I think Marco Dapper is quite possibly one of the sexiest guys alive.
Who would you go straight for?
I don't think I could ever go straight for a woman. If I was to pick one that inspires me though, it would have to be Angelina Jolie. She is pretty amazing in most of the roles she has had.
If you had a choice, would you prefer to go ten years into the future or ten years into the past?
I have a motto of never regretting anything I have done so going back into the past would be futile and going to the future would spoil the surprise. It would be nice to write down all the winning lotto numbers though. I’m happy living each day as it comes.
