Hinehi he kupu tatai,
I te ahua o te whakataapui a tenei momo,
Koo taana tuu, kia hangai taana whakatakoto,
I te ara whaatoro o tana tinana,
Kia rite te ahua o te takoto,
Ki ana whakaaro, I roto I toona ngakau,
Ina koa, I te ngakau waahine.
Hinehua ko te tangi o tana reo,
Ko te reo o te waahine,
Me tana mau ano I ana kaakahu,
Kia mirei te mau,
I ta te waahine motuhake
Hinehua he kaingangahu,
He kai whakangahau,
He Maatua, he Whaia.

The uniqueness of the transgender
Within the community
Their proud stance, is part of their very being, it is a manifestation of their femininity and relates directly to how they feel both inwards and outwards
They stand as women
Their sound, their look,
And the way they move
Is in many ways identical
To that of a woman
Many transgender are renowned for taking up many roles within the community, they are diverse and adept in many fields from that of a professional entertainer successful businessperson to that of a parent
