Arse 101

Anal sex is often though of as penetration (fucking) and nothing else. But the anus can be stimulated in other ways – by touching, licking and fingering. None of these is automatically foreplay for fucking – they can be arousing on their own.

If you’re not sure that your arse is something that you want to explore sexually then try experimenting alone. Put lots of lube on your fingers and begin to feel the outside of your arse hole. Take your time – if it feels good slowly slide a finger in. If your hole suddenly tightens don’t worry; it’s a response by a ring of muscle called a sphincter. To work around this, penetrate slowly with a well lubed finger and then let the muscle tighten. Then pull your finger out again – wait 30 seconds or so and then begin to finger your arse again – this time you’ll find it a lot easier. If you like the feeling of a finger inside you, try something bigger – two or three fingers or a dildo (but make sure to start out small).

It’s important to remember that anal sex without a condom is the highest risk sexual act for HIV. Most HIV positive gay or bisexual men in New Zealand contracted the virus through unprotected anal sex. This doesn’t mean that if you like to fuck you have to stop. It means that to avoid HIV infection you need to use a condom and water or silicone based lube. It’s also important to understand why anal sex is so risky.

It is sometimes suggested that anal sex is “unnatural” and violent, that it results in damage that which allows cum to mix with blood. This is wrong. Careful penetration is unlikely to harm your arse in any way. Anal sex is risky for HIV because of the way your arse functions. Part of the inside acts like a sponge that absorbs nutrients from food and transports them to the blood stream. Anything else that goes in is also absorbed quickly – which is why medicine is sometimes given anally. But it also means that cum is also absorbed.

I like this.
I think there are too many people who aren’t fully into the sexual side of their rear.

Viva la anus
